Trinkets are the embodiment of kitsch; useless and excessive. However, these tiny items are also highly personal. Because these little objects don’t necessarily have a set purpose outside of their aesthetic value they tell a lot about their owner; their priorities and aesthetics.

The endowment effect in psychology and behavioural economics refers to an emotional bias that causes individuals to value an owned object higher, often irrationally, than its market value.
